Feyenoord star Shinji Ono was also picked for the buildup matches in Niigata and Tokyo on May 22 and 27 for Japan's World Cup qualifiers away to Bahrain and North Korea at the start of next month.
Jubilo Iwata goalkeeper Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi returns to the 20-man squad after missing the last two qualifiers but Zico's other European-based stars, including Hidetoshi Nakata, are unavailable due to club commitments.
