HAMBURG, Germany – Borussia Dortmund manager Bert van Marwijk has expressed interest in signing Japanese midfielder Shinji Ono from Feyenoord, according to a report in German soccer magazine Kicker on Thursday.
Former Feyenoord boss Van Marwijk, who was appointed as Dortmund manager at the start of last month, said the versatile 24-year-old playmaker would fit nicely into the midfield in his favored 4-4-3 formation.
“Ono is the kind of player that could adapt to any midfield position in the 4-4-3 system that I like to use,” Kicker quoted van Marwijk as saying.
