Cologne Centurions quarterback Kentaro Namiki, who became the first Japanese player to complete a pass in NFL Europe in a win over the Scottish Claymores on Saturday, was named national player of the week, the league said Tuesday.

Namiki completed five out of six passes for a total of 38 yards to contribute to a 28-20 victory.

He was the sixth Japanese player to be picked MVP of the week.
