Right-hander Jarred Riggan has agreed to a new contract and will remain with the Hanshin Tigers for the 2004 season, officials of the Central League club said Tuesday.

The 29-year-old Riggan joined the Tigers in midseason and contributed to the team winning its first league pennant in 18 years with three wins and a 1.51 ERA in 29 games as a reliever.

Details of the deal were not disclosed.

New deal for Ochoa

NAGOYA (Kyodo) Alex Ochoa has agreed to a single-year contract for next season carrying a $2 million (nearly 220 million yen) annual salary in addition to performance-based incentives, the Chunichi Dragons said Tuesday.

Ochoa, who joined the Dragons in February and impressed with his defensive skills, finished the season with a .294 average. He had 149 hits, 21 homers and 65 RBIs in 137 games.

BlueWave re-sign Koo

KOBE (Kyodo) Orix BlueWave southpaw Koo Dae Sung, who completed the final year of a three-year contract this past season, agreed to a single-year deal in re-signing with the Pacific League club, baseball sources said Tuesday.

The 34-year-old South Korean agreed to a 110 million yen annual salary for next season, down 20 million yen from last year.
