Regarding the June 12 editorial "Super Cool Biz": This year is the summer for saving electricity power. We must do it. And we have clothing items that are useful for this. One such item is called suteteko (men's summer underpants). It is easily permeated by air, so it helps keep people cool.

Suteteko has a strong image as old-fashioned and for old men, but now it is being sold with excellent designs. More and more young men are buying it as well as young women.

It's just one example of Japanese traditional or ancestral wisdom being given a second look. There is no doubt that suteteko will help people get through the summer. Suteteko is nice for Father's Day, so why not give it to your father?

The opinions expressed in this letter to the editor are the writer's own and do not necessarily reflect the policies of The Japan Times.
