In Australia, we all have great sympathy and feelings for our friends in Japan. Both countries have now suffered at the hands of nature. During our recent floods and bush fires, many messages of support came from Japan, together with rescue teams to help our own. Australians do not forget these things.
Please know that there is great regard and care here for Japan. We know Japan is a brave nation that will show the world how well it deals with this terrible happening. I know that Australian rescue teams have gone to Japan to assist with emergency services in the Sendai area.
The Japanese are a great and resilient people who do not wait for others. Japan, I am certain, will beat this disaster and rise stronger than ever. Our hearts are with you. God bless you all.
