Regarding the Feb. 23 article "TSE unveils new mascot": Aging population? Massive shortage of workers in nursing and health care? Higher taxes ahead and fewer workers per retiree? The decline in overall population but no immigration policy? Archaic trade-unit rules that keep the initial cost of investing artificially high?

Not to worry — what was needed to get more women and young people to invest in companies listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was another image character, "Arrows-kun."

Image character or no, isn't anyone wondering why a "10-year-old" would (a) be working "under a demanding boss" or (b) be handling public relations for the bourse? Still, I suppose any marketing company that could get a major financial firm to pay for this designed-over-the-weekend logo that looks like trash deserves every penny it can get.
