Police arrested a woman in her 30s Monday evening after she allegedly injured two male passengers with pepper spray inside a train on Tokyo’s Yamanote Line.
According to investigators, police received an emergency call shortly after 7:40 p.m. from an employee at the JR Otsuka Station in the capital’s Toshima Ward, stating that someone had used pepper spray on the train.
The suspect had pushed past other passengers in order to get to a priority seat, which led to a dispute with a male passenger who chided her, according to police. She then allegedly discharged one of the two pepper spray canisters she had, injuring the man, who is in his 60s, and another man, also in his 60s.
