A former care worker at a facility in Saitama Prefecture where two residents were found dead earlier this week used his knowledge of its security protocols to sneak into the building, police said Thursday.
Suspect Toya Kimura, 22, knew the required passcode to unlock the door, according to a report by NHK.
The former employee took advantage of the fact that the code had not been changed since he stopped working there. Police suspect he used prior knowledge of the facility’s management practices to enter the facility in the early hours of the morning, when there would not be many staff members present.
