U.S. President Donald Trump has aggressively pursued what may be the one thing he most desires: a Nobel Peace Prize. But while a handful of people and groups have revealed that they nominated him for the award, a win is likely to prove elusive when the Nobel Committee announces the recipient on Friday.
Trump has garnered nominations from Pakistan, Cambodia, Israel, South Korea’s ruling party and U.S. Republican lawmakers, among others, with the U.S. president claiming he has “ended seven wars.”
However, his divisive style of governing and “America First” policies have shaken the U.S. and the globe — and often run counter to the ideals the Nobel Committee looks for when selecting winners, according to observers.
