Orphaned by a massive U.S. air raid on Tokyo in the late stages of World War II 80 years ago, Yoriko Suzuki had her life turned upside down.
"Many people had their lives ruined by a single war," she said before her death at the age of 87 in June. "War must never ever happen again."
Suzuki was one of the many children who were orphaned by the war and left with no choice but to fend for themselves on the streets of Tokyo's Ueno district and other locations throughout the country.
