Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. stopped its Ogimachi plant at the Keihin refinery complex near Tokyo on Tuesday because of weakening domestic demand for oil products.
The refiner closed the 120,000-barrel-a-day crude distillation unit at the plant to reduce capacity, spokesman Satoshi Yoshida said.
