Sanyo Electric Co. said Friday it will probably post an annual net loss, abandoning its earlier forecast of breaking even, partly because of the cost of a washer-dryer recall.
The net loss will probably total ¥30 billion in the year to March 2010, compared with a ¥93.2 billion loss a year ago, Osaka-based Sanyo said in a statement to the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Sanyo, the world's biggest maker of rechargeable batteries, also cited ¥11 billion in costs linked to job cuts for the revision.
