A man climbed over the gate at the British Embassy in Tokyo’s Chiyoda Ward at around 11:25 a.m. Friday and was seized by security guards, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

No property was damaged and no members of the staff were hurt.

The man, who appears to be in his 30s and claims to be a British national without a passport or wallet, told police he did not want to speak to any Japanese, according to the Kojimachi police station.

The man climbed over the south gate of the embassy and was seized by embassy security guards and handed over to the Metropolitan Police Department riot squad.
