Disqualified structural engineer Hidetsugu Aneha, indicted on charges related to the building-safety scandal, should be granted bail soon, now that a court has rejected an appeal by prosecutors against his release.

Aneha, 49, will be released on 5 million yen bail. He has been detained since his April 26 arrest. The exact timing of his release was not immediately known.

He faces trial at the Tokyo District Court on charges that include fabricating earthquake-resistance data for four condominiums and two hotels in the planning stages, causing them to be built with substandard quake resistance.

Aneha pleaded guilty to the charges at the first session of his trial Sept. 6.
