An earthquake registering a preliminary magnitude of 5.4 shook Fukushima, Ibaraki and other prefectures in northeastern and eastern Japan early Monday, the Meteorological Agency said.
The quake registered 4 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale to 7, in Futaba in Fukushima and Daigo in Ibaraki.
The focus of the quake was in the Pacific off Fukushima, about 40 km below the surface of the sea, the agency said.
