Seven-Eleven Japan Co. revealed Tuesday it will open its first Chinese outlet in Beijing on April 15 and plans to open an additional four outlets in the city by the end of May.

Seven-Eleven Japan said it hopes to increase its number of outlets in Beijing and add outlets outside the capital on a step-by-step basis.

The Chinese outlets will be operated via joint venture Seven-Eleven (Beijing) Co., which is 65 percent owned by Seven-Eleven Japan, 25 percent by Beijing ShouLian (Capital Allied) Commercial Group Co. and 10 percent by China National Sugar & Alcohol Group Corp.
