McDonald’s Holdings Co. – Ltd. has said it will raise the price of hamburgers back to 80 yen, effective July 1.
Hamburgers have cost 59 yen since last August, a maneuver that has symbolized McDonald’s discount strategy.
The company is apparently reviewing its approach in the face of weakening business performance.
The price of a Big Mac will be raised back to 250 yen from the current 199 yen.
The price changes are in line with the launch of the firm’s Smart Saving sales campaign, which will see designated products offered at a discount price each month.
