The El Nino phenomenon, which creates abnormal weather conditions worldwide, is in a mature stage and will continue at least through the spring, the Meteorological Agency said Friday.
According to the agency, the current water temperature distribution near the equator shows that El Nino is reaching its peak, with high sea-surface temperatures off Peru expected to continue.
The agency stopped short of predicting whether El Nino will continue in the summer, however, stating that it will wait for future indicators.
