A Foreign Ministry in-house probe has found that the Japan-Russia Committee for Youth Exchange misappropriated government funds, Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi said Tuesday.
The ministry conducted the probe following allegations that Muneo Suzuki, a lawmaker charged with bribery, used the youth committee to advance his political agenda.
Kawaguchi told reporters she will discipline 14 officials involved in the bilateral youth exchange program.
