Foreign Minister Yohei Kono and Hong Kong's Chief Secretary for Administration Anson Chan agreed Tuesday to promote tourism between Japan and the territory, a ministry official said.
Chan, in Japan to attend the Hong Kong Film Festival that opened Saturday in Tokyo, told Kono that the territory remains a popular overseas destination for Japanese travelers, with 5.5 million of them visiting Hong Kong last year.
