OSAKA -- Parts of an insect and a worm have been found inside buns produced by Osaka-based Kobeya Baking Co., while a thread-like object has been detected in doughnuts made by Yamazaki Baking Co., officials of the two companies said Wednesday.
A housewife in Itami, Hyogo Prefecture, told Kobeya Baking on July 24 that she had found a 1 mm part of a flour beetle's leg in a package of Hokkaido Rennyu (Condensed Milk) France sweet buns, Kobeya officials said.
Another housewife, from Yamato-Takada, Nara Prefecture, complained to the company that she had found a 2.5-mm long woodworm inside a package of Milk France sweet buns she purchased Aug. 17, they said.
