For the first time ever, the Bank of Japan disclosed Tuesday the minutes of a recent monetary policy meeting in line with recently adopted transparency rules.

The 12-page document on the Jan. 16 policy meeting is compiled in a format similar to that used by the U.S. Federal Reserve system and summarizes matters reported to and opinions raised at the discussion.

The minutes detail staff reports about BOJ market operations and economic and financial developments here and abroad. A summary of the Policy Board discussion followed.
