Beaujolais Nouveau party

One day after the release of this year’s Beaujolais Nouveau in France on Nov. 21, the Grand Pacific Le Daiba hotel will hold a Beaujolais Nouveau 2013 in Le Daiba party Nov. 21 and 22.

Guests will be able to enjoy about 30 kinds of the new wine as well as many complementary dishes prepared by the hotel’s chefs.

The Grand Pacific’s popular traditional cheesecakes as well as hotel-made breads will be available, too.

There will be a wine-tasting competition, a gospel performance, and a lottery to win accommodation and restaurant vouchers.

Admission is free for the party, but tickets for wine and food will cost from ¥1,000. Wines will be available for ¥400 per glass.

The party will be held at the hotel’s second-floor atrium from 6:30 p.m. to 8:50 p.m.

The Grand Pacific Le Daiba is adjacent to Daiba Station (Yurikamome Line). For more information, call 03-5500-6711.

Thanksgiving dinner

The first branch in Japan of New York’s popular casual Italian restaurant Serafina, located in the Palace Building in Tokyo’s Marunouchi district, will offer a special menu to celebrate Thanksgiving from Nov. 27 to 30.

Head chef Mugen Watanabe, who has worked for Serafina’s flagship restaurant in New York, a popular stop for hungry Hollywood stars, will prepare the dinner course.

In addition to the traditional turkey breast stuffed with spinach, walnuts and chestnuts, there will be various other dishes using seasonal ingredients such as porcini mushrooms, figs and pumpkin.

The course — four dishes from soup to dessert and a two-hour all-you-can-drink plan, including Bastianich wines from Tuscany — will be available at ¥4,500 per person, including tax.

All the dishes can also be ordered à la carte.

Serafina New York is a 2-minute walk from Otemachi Station (various lines) or an 8-minute walk from Tokyo Station (various lines). For more information or reservations, call 03-5220-5522 or visit www.serafina-marunouchi.jp .

Xmas courses for couples, families

Located on the 16th floor, the restaurant offers authentic Shanghai cuisine as well as panoramic views of Tokyo.

The course for couples will start with a glass of Dom Perignon Champagne, which will be followed by braised shark fin and Peking duck. The family course will be available in a private room, and the menu includes such dishes as dumplings, fried rice and a sesame-dumpling “tree” for dessert that everyone can share.

The couples course will cost ¥20,000 per person and the family course, which is available for groups of six or more, will cost ¥8,400 per person. The prices include tax but are subject to a service charge. Both will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
