Halloween celebration at Okura

To celebrate Halloween, the main lobby of the Hotel Okura Tokyo will be decorated in the spirit of the holiday, and the hotel will offer special Halloween dishes and sweets from Oct. 19 to Oct. 31.

During the fair, the Terrace Restaurant on the first floor of the main building will provide a Halloween Kids’ Plate, which includes chestnuts and chicken pilaf served in a pumpkin and pumpkin croquettes. The Terrace Restaurant is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Kid’s Plate is ¥2,940.

On Oct. 27 and 28, a Saturdays, Sundays & Holidays Buffet in the Orchid Room (5F, Main Building) will have Halloween menus. The lunch buffet is available from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and costs ¥6,300 for adults and ¥4,515 for children aged 4 to 12. The dinner buffet is 5:30-9:30 p.m. and costs ¥9,450 and ¥4,935 respectively.

For those two days, the first 25 children (elementary school-aged and younger) to order a Kid’s Plate at the Terrace Restaurant or a buffet at the Orchid Room will receive special Halloween treats.

At the takeout corner of the Chef’s Garden Terrace (1F, Main Building), special pumpkin-themed puddings (¥735) and pies (¥525) will be available through the celebration period.

Sheraton thank-you buffet

The Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay Hotel in Maihama, Chiba Prefecture, will hold a weeklong Grand Cafe Thank You Fair.

To thank customers for their patronage of the hotel’s casual Grand Cafe restaurant, the fair will offer a special buffet featuring a wide selection of dishes for lunch and dinner at discount prices.

Some 50 selections will be offered, including dishes not usually available at the standard buffet, such as Japanese beefsteak (left), roast beef and bluefin tuna sushi (right). In addition, dishes that use autumn ingredients, six popular pizzas and pastas, and many other special dishes will be available during the event.

The fair will be held from Oct. 20 to 26, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and 5-10 p.m. Lunch hours will be extended to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

The buffet is ¥3,900 for adults, ¥2,500 for 9- to 12-year-old children, and ¥1,500 for 4- to 8-year-olds.

French food with a German twist

The French restaurant Azur at the InterContinental Yokohama Grand has invited top-rated French chef Alain Reix to head the Alsatian Cuisine Fair from Oct. 27 to Nov. 4.

The Alsace region in northeastern France borders Germany and has a unique cuisine that has been strongly influenced by German food.

For the fair, Alain Reix will offer traditional Alsatian dishes with modern arrangements to show the diversity of French cuisine.

Lunch courses are available between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. for ¥5,250 and ¥7,350, and dinner courses are between 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. for ¥12,600 and ¥16,800.

From 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 1, there will also be a Wine Night, when guests can enjoy Alsace wine specially selected for the course by the hotel’s sommelier. The event costs ¥12,000, including wine and dinner course fees.
