Saitama: Uchiwa Matsuri

Annual Festival of the shrine with more than 250 years history, featuring a parade of beautifully decorated 12 floats to the tune of festival music daily during the period. The highlight of this festival is Tatakiai in which young men compete in drumming on the floats.

Schedule & Key events:
● July 20 from 6:30 p.m.: 12 floats gather at JR Kumagaya Sta. East Exit and
move to North Exit
from 7 p.m.: Tatakiai in front of JR Kumagaya Sta. North Exit
● July 21 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. Parade of floats along Route 17
from 6 p.m.: Tatakiai along Route 17 to Yagihashi
department store
● July 22 from 8 p.m.: Tatakiai in Omatsuri Hiroba
from 11:30 p.m.: Parade of mikoshi to shrine

Location: Yasaka-jinja Shrine, Omatsuri Hiroba, JR Kumagaya Sta. and others, Kumagaya, Saitama


Access:
JR Takasaki Line to Kumagaya Sta. (North Exit), and then walk 5 min.
