To celebrate Expo 2010 being held in Shanghai, the Osaka International House Foundation (i-house) will inject a dose of Chinese culture into this year's Nigiwai 2010 summer festival.
The annual festival in Osaka's Tennoji Ward will welcome people of all ages and nationalities on July 25.
The festival is held every year to promote international exchange among non-Japanese and Japanese people.
The international culture featured this year won't be limited to just China, however. Along with steamed dumplings and Chinese lion dances, there will be Korean drum dancing and even a Brazilian samba. Local dance culture will be represented by the performance of a traditional Japanese Bon-odori.
There will also be plenty of food. Korean pancakes, curry, fried noodles and lots of sweets will be sold at stalls.
Festival organizers ask that visitors bring their own chopsticks in order to maintain an environmentally friendly atmosphere.
The Nigiwai 2010 Summer Festival will be held from 11 a.m. till 4 p.m. on July 25. Admission is free and food is available for purchase. For more information, visit www.ih-osaka.or.jp
