Sometimes you just get lucky. That, better than anything else, works for me as the reason why the unfocused, gadget-dependent and low-tech exhibition "New Media New Face/New York" manages, against the odds, to end up being a fairly good show.

The group exhibition is now at the ICC InterCommunication Center's Gallery A, a 390- sq.-meter box of a room up on the fifth floor of NTT's Shinjuku media art showcase.

Seven artists are exhibiting -- a roundup that was originally intended to provide a look at feminist perspectives, but, by the time ICC's male-dominated curatorial staff was finished, included only one woman, so the angle was shifted a little, to reorient the exhibition as a show of New York artists.
