The 58th Grand Antique Fair in Kyoto will run from March 28 to 30, with more than 350 shops from all over Japan displaying and selling their wares.

Admission is free. The market will open at 10 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. except on March 30, when it will close at 4 p.m.

The fair takes place in Kyoto Pulse Plaza, and a free shuttle bus will be provided from Takeda Station on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line and the Karasuma Line.

Takashima holding spring festival this Sunday

The Takashima Village Spring Festival will take place Sunday in the city of Takashima, Shiga Prefecture.

Visitors can walk around an area of traditional Japanese townhouses and warehouses, buy various foods and enjoy musical performances. Local farmers will also sell their products. The festival will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.

The venue is about a five-minute walk from Omi Takashima Station on the JR Kosei line.

Dance performance at Kyoto Zuishin-in Temple

Girls in pale pink traditional costumes will dance and sing in a "Hanezu Odori" performance at Zuishin-in Temple in Kyoto on March 30.

The performance will be held three or four times during the day. The temple is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, and admission will be ¥1,000.

The temple is a five-minute walk from Ono Station on the Tozai Line.

Nagoya holding big festival for railway buffs

The Railways Festival 2014 will be held in Nagoya Saturday and Sunday.

Visitors can enjoy a flea market where various railway-related items will be on sale, stage performances, a diorama display and ride miniature trains.

The event is open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Admission is ¥900 for adults and ¥600 for elementary school students and children 3 years old and above.

The venue is Fukiage Hall, a five-minute walk from Fukiage Station on the Sakuradoi Line.

Readings in English, Tagalog for kids in Nagoya

Non-Japanese volunteers will read books for children in English and Tagalog at Nagoya International Center on Sunday.

The reading session runs from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Participation is free and no reservations are required.
