Starting tomorrow (October 16th), The Japan Times embarks on a new phase in its 116-year history as it commences a publishing tie-up with The New York Times. From tomorrow's issue, the newspaper will be packaged with The New York Times' international edition, to become “The Japan Times / International New York Times”.

The “The Japan Times / International New York Times” will be published through Monday and Saturday and will consist of two separate sections. The first section will be edited and produced by The Japan Times and will continue to provide the original and in-depth coverage of Japan that our readers have come to expect from our staff. The International New York Times section will draw on reporting from 50 worldwide bureaus to give readers truly global perspectives.

For subscribers' Sunday reading pleasure, we will also be launching a brand-new, tabloid-sized companion newspaper called “The Japan Times On Sunday,” which will include colorful features, in-depth reporting and more.

Subscribers will also be eligible for a host of digital benefits, including free access to all content on The Japan Times website and free access to the NYTimes.com website and selected apps for smartphones and tablets.

On Oct. 23, a very special event will be held in Tokyo to commemorate the launch of "The Japan Times / International New York Times." Andrew Ross Sorkin — New York Times columnist and chief M&A reporter as well as best-selling author of "Too Big To Fail" (2009) — will give a lecture on “Innovation, Investment and the Japanese Economy”.
