Shohei Ohtani dug deep after falling behind early in his first postseason start as a pitcher to earn the win against the Philadelphia Phillies, and the effort may have dulled his bat, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on Sunday.
Ohtani uncharacteristically allowed three runs on the mound and struck out four times at the plate, but Los Angeles rallied to beat Philadelphia 5-3 in Game 1 of the best-of-five NL Division Series.
"On days that Shohei pitches, a large amount of the focus is on the pitching," Roberts told reporters.
