Ai Miyazato has declined a position as national women's team coach for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the Japan Golf Association announced Tuesday.

"I just retired and I have no coaching experience, so this request was made at a time when I was thinking of learning about coaching. I came to the decision that it's still too difficult at this time," said Miyazato, a former world No. 1-ranked golfer, according to the JGA.

Miyazato, who announced she married last month, retired from competitive golf at age 32 at the end of the 2017 season, ending a 14-year career. She won nine U.S. LPGA Tour titles and captured 15 domestic tour wins.
