Japan's world table tennis silver medalists Masataka Morizono and Yuya Oshima played a tenacious, drama-filled match in the men's doubles final on Sunday to earn their second ITTF World Tour Grand Finals victory.

The duo, who also won the event in 2015, came back twice from the brink of defeat to prevail 4-3 over Hong Kong's Ho Kwan Kit and Wong Chun Ting.

"We thought this match was very difficult," said Morizono after the win. "But after we changed tactics, we came back."

In the women's doubles final, Japan's Olympic team bronze medalist Mima Ito and Hina Hayata settled for second place after suffering a 4-0 sweep to China's singles world No. 1 Zhu Yuling and world No. 2 Chen Meng.
