Shimizu S-Pulse defender Genta Miura has been added to Japan’s Under-23 squad for the upcoming Toulon International tournament in France, the Japan Football Association said Sunday.
Miura has been called up to replace Kawasaki Frontale defender Tatsuki Nara, who was ruled out for four months and is set to miss the Rio de Janeiro Olympics after breaking his left shinbone on Saturday in a 3-1 home win over Vissel Kobe.
Japan opens the 10-team Toulon tournament in Group B next Saturday against Paraguay, before playing Portugal on May 23, Guinea two days later and England on May 27.
The third-placed playoff and final are both scheduled for May 29.
