Japan fell to two-time defending champion Switzerland 8-4 in a 1-2 Page playoff at the World Women's Curling Championship on Friday.

Japan's LS Kitami team of Satsuki Fujisawa, Chinami Yoshida, Yurika Yoshida and Yumi Suzuki made it 3-3 in the sixth end, but Switzerland took advantage of their mistakes and came back strong.

Switzerland advanced to Sunday's final, and Japan was scheduled to play in the semifinal on Saturday.

A win there against the winner of the 3-4 Page playoff, either Russia or Canada, would send Japan into the final for a rematch with Switzerland.
