Tokyo Yakult Swallows closer Tony Barnette has re-signed for the 2015 season, the Central League club announced Thursday.
In an injury-shortened season, the 31-year-old Barnette, who was deactivated on Sept. 23 due to strained left oblique muscles, worked 33 games with a 1-2 record and 14 saves for the last-place Swallows. Next year will be the right-hander’s sixth in Japan.
