SAPPORO – The Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters signed left-hander Anthony Carter from the San Diego Padres’ Triple-A affiliate, the Pacific League club announced Monday.
The 28-year-old Carter’s contract, for ¥40 million plus incentives, runs to the end of the season. He has no major league experience but had a 37-37 record with 56 saves and a 4.59 ERA in 270 games in the minors.
