Akito Watabe stood on the podium for the fourth time this season after finishing third in Sunday's Nordic combined World Cup event.

Watabe finished the 10-km cross-country portion in a time of 23 minutes, 48.2 seconds, 1.1 second behind the winner, France's Chappuis Lamy, and 0.4 seconds behind runnerup Johannes Rydzek of Germany.

Watabe, who finished second for the second straight day, is second in the World Cup standings with 341 points after six events. Germany's Eric Frenzel, who has three victories this season, leads with 403 points.

High winds prevented the day's ski jump, and the starting times in the cross-country were based on Friday's qualifying results, when Watanabe placed third. The 25-year-old began Sunday's cross-country element 9 seconds after the first skier.
