Ichiro Suzuki's agent has said the 39-year-old outfielder has not heard from the New York Yankees and is now willing to listen to offers from other clubs, the New York Post reported Friday in its online edition.
"At the beginning we talked a lot but since that time, zero," the Post quoted agent Tony Attanasio as saying. "As far as we are concerned we don't care what the Yankees do. We have had conversations with multiple clubs. If we see something we like he will go through with it."
The story comes six days after Attanasio told the Post that Ichiro's preference was to stay with the Yankees, for whom he batted .322 in 67 games after moving from Seattle in a trade.
The Yankees have been busy locking up their principle pitchers, signing Hiroki Kuroda, Andy Pettitte and Mariano Rivera. In the meantime, catcher Russell Martin, who caught Kuroda with both the Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers, left as a free agent.
