Ryo Ishikawa failed to mount a final-round charge Sunday, an early stumble proving costly as he settled for third place at the season-opening Token Homemate Cup.

Tadahiro Takayama held on to his overnight lead for a two-shot victory over Shingo Katayama, shooting a 1-under-par 70 for an 8-under 276 total at Token Tado Country Club.

The 33-year-old Takayama earned his fourth career JGTO Tour victory and second at the Token Homemate Cup.

Ishikawa made three straight bogeys from the second hole, driving into the water twice in that stretch.

The 19-year-old star, already a nine-time winner on the tour, had a birdie-birdie finish and ended the week alone in third at 5 under.

His final-round 72 included four birdies and five bogeys.
