The Japan Association of Athletics Federations announced on Thursday a five-man marathon squad that includes surprise Tokyo Marathon third-place finisher Yuki Kawauchi for this summer's IAAF World Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea.

Kawauchi, Asian Games silver medalist Yukihiro Kitaoka and Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon third-place Hiroyuki Horibata, who all had already qualified, were joined by Yoshinori Oda and Kentaro Nakamoto.

Kawauchi was the fastest Japanese in the Tokyo Marathon in 2 hours, 8 minutes, 37 seconds, well under the qualifying standard time of 2:09:30.
