Former Yomiuri Giants pitcher Toru Murata has signed a minor league deal with the Cleveland Indians, according to U.S. media.

The 25-year-old Murata, who never pitched with the top team in three years with the Giants, was released by Yomiuri this season. The Cleveland Plain Dealer said Sunday the right-hander has not been invited to spring training by the Indians.

Murata was the Giants’ No. 1 pick in the 2007 corporate draft.
