The defending JBL champion Link Tochigi Brex opened the 2010-11 season with a 72-56 win over the Hitachi Sunrockers on Friday night at Yoyogi National Gymnasium No. 2.

Forward/center Randy Holcomb scored a team-high 21 points for Link Tochigi, while Takuya Kawamura, the league's two-time scoring champion, added 19 points in the team's first game under new head coach Jason Rabedeaux.

Point guard Yuta Tabuse had three assists and three steals for the Brex. He was 0-for-4 from the field and 0-for-2 at the free-throw line. As a team, Link Tochigi was 12-for-22 at the line.

For Hitachi, Joji Takeuchi scored 20 points and Tyler Smith had 15.

Elsewhere Friday, the Panasonic Trians defeated the Aisin Seahorses 88-85.

Adrian Custis paced Panasonic with 22 points and Hiroyuki Kinoshita scored 19.

Ryan Forehan-Kelly led the Seahorses with 26 points, while Kosuke Takeuchi and J.R. Sakuragi each scored 22.
