Host Japan picked up its first win of the women's World Grand Prix final round with a straight-sets victory over the Netherlands on Friday.

Japan won 25-22, 25-18, 25-22 to improve its win-loss record to 1-2, while the Netherlands, the 2007 World Grand Prix winner, fell to 2-1.

Maiko Sakashita scored a match-high 18 points and Saori Kimura added 12 points for Japan. Chaine Staelens had 14 points in a losing effort.

"After two consecutive losses, we tried to improve our play, the players and staff together. I'm really glad to win," Sakashita said.

In other action at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Brazil improved to 3-0, cruising to a 25-15, 25-15, 25-16 victory over Germany (1-2). Russia (2-1) defeated winless China 27-29, 25-16, 25-19, 25-23.
