Athens Olympic gold medalist Masae Ueno and her younger sister Yoshie won their respective weight classes at the Kano Cup international judo tournament on Saturday at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. Masae won a yusei decision over Ronda Rousey of the United States in extra time in the 70-kg final at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. Yoshie toppled Athens Olympic champion Ayumi Tanimoto with an osotogari outer-leg sweep in the all-Japanese 63-kg final. In men's action, former world champion Hiroshi Izumi lost to Ilias Iliadis of Greece by yusei in the 90-kg final. In other matches, Takashi Ono succumbed to South Korean Song Dae Nam's kataguruma throw — heaving his opponent onto his shoulders before dumping him on the mat — in the 81-kg final. The 73-kg title went to South Korea's Wang Ki Chun. Masahiko Otsuka of Japan, meanwhile, finished third. The international competition ends on Sunday.
