Figure skating world silver medalist Mao Asada will miss the upcoming "Dream On Ice" exhibition ice show due to an injured left knee, the public relations office for the event said Wednesday. Mai, Mao's older sister, will also sit out the show to be held at Shin-Yokohama Skate Center from Saturday to Monday after suffering an injured right ankle, but the sisters are expected to join the Japanese team in time for the start of training in Italy on July 19. Sources close to Mao said the skater sustained an injury to her left knee while training in the United States. Results from an MRI done at a Nagoya hospital at the end of June revealed inflamed ligaments in her knee and she was instructed by doctors to refrain from performing any jumps in practice for three weeks, including her trademark triple axel. Mai suffered a stress fracture in her ankle and has also been instructed to refrain from practicing jumps until sometime next week. Mao has been working on choreography for a new short program and is currently visiting Russia along with her older sister.
