Japan midfielder Junichi Inamoto scored an extra-time winner against his former club Fulham in West Bromwich Albion's 3-2 win Tuesday in the English League Cup third round.

News photoJunichi Inamoto of West Bromwich Albion is congratulated by teammate Richard Chaplow after scoring the winning goal in his side's 3-2 victory against Fulham in their League Cup third-round match at Craven Cottage.

Inamoto, making his first competitive appearance in nine games, set up the opening goal after three minutes with a sharp through ball to forward Robert Earnshaw and broke the deadlock nine minutes into the extra period when he rifled home a shot from 30 meters after dribbling down the middle.

"I got this opportunity to play and was able to produce a good result," Inamoto said. "There is no guarantee that I will have playing time in the next game. But I will try harder in practice sessions for a place in the lineup."

It was his first appearance in a competitive match since Aug. 24, when West Bromwich lost 4-0 at Chelsea in a Premier League game.
