NAGOYA – Japan’s Hideyasu Ishihara on Monday said he intends to retire from the ring, a day after losing to Mexican champion Martin Castillo in a WBA super-flyweight title match.
“It’s a shame that I wasn’t able to realize my dream but I fought with all my strength and have no regrets. I think I’m going to retire,” said Ishihara, who lost Sunday’s 12-rounder at Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium by unanimous decision for a career 16-4-1 (11 KOs) record.
