The three games scheduled to kick off the annual national high school baseball invitational tournament Wednesday were canceled due to rain.
A total of 32 schools taking part in the spring classic at Koshien Stadium in Nishinomiya joined in the procession at the opening ceremony before the first-day games were postponed for the first time in the history of the tournament.
Komadai Tomakomai high school of Hokkaido will face Tobata high school of Fukuoka Prefecture in the first game Thursday.
