Reigning world champion Kyoko Hamaguchi lost a 6-5 decision against Christine Bordhagen in the 72-kg division as Japan claimed a 21-3 victory over Canada at the women's World Cup wrestling team competition on Saturday.

Hamaguchi held a 4-1 lead with one minute remaining in the match at Yoyogi national gymnasium annex in Tokyo, but allowed Bordhagen, winner of an unprecedented six world titles, to score two points on rolling and another three after flipping Hamaguchi over on her back. Miyu Yamamoto (48-kg), Chiharu Icho (51-kg), Kaori Icho (63-kg) and Norie Saito (67-kg) all held their respective opponents scoreless, while Saori Yoshida (55-kg) and Seiko Yamamoto (59-kg) also won their categories.
